We'll have a great vocal work-out as well as an intense look at these pieces:
Jesu Dulcis Memoria (Victoria 1548 - 1611)
Sicut Cervus (Palestrina 1525 - 1594)
If Ye Love Me (Tallis 1505 - 1585)
Ave Verum Corpus (Wm. Byrd 1543 - 1623)
What to expect:
An excellent, extended, structured warm-up
Vocal technique (especially suited for Renaissamce polyphony)
Vocal colour - so important for blend and depicting this genre of music
Phrasing, and a word or two on dynamics
We are privileged to have as our clinician, Mr. Timothy Smith - a graduate of Westminster Choir College, Peinceton, NJ with a degree in Sacred Music, emphasis on Renaissance Choral Literature.
Mr. Smith has performed with some of the world's leading choirs and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the London Symphony to name a few.
Wear something comfortable - the church IS air-conditioned.
There will be a suggested donation of $5 to help defray the costs of the event.
