Maureen Srinivasa was touched as a teen by the power of the Holy Spirit while attending a Catholic Charismatic prayer meeting at Immaculate Conception Church in Montclair. That powerful evening changed the course of her life. Maureen considers her former parish of 30 years, St. Antoninus Church in Newark, to be the spiritual community where she learned to be an intentional disciple. While a member at St. Antoninus Church, Maureen became involved in evangelization, bible study, music ministry, prayer groups, RCIA, CCD, Liturgy of the Word with Children, conferences, retreats, special events, secretarial duties, and much more. While at St. Antoninus her husband, Raj, was called to the permanent diaconate and was ordained in 2005. Maureen has been involved in women’s bible study groups for many years and was a leader in the Catholic Community Bible Study at St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Summit. She worked for the Office for Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Newark from 2009 to 2020 and served on the Women’s Commission of the Archdiocese of Newark which ran the annual Day of Reflection at Seton Hall University. Maureen and her husband Raj live in Hawthorne, NJ and have two daughters; Nivedita, who is married to Bill Toth and Monica. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from William Paterson University and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Maureen invites us to join her as she reflects on: WOMEN EMBRACED & TRANSFORMED BY THE SPIRIT He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit whom he poured out on us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
