This month’s speaker is Joy Calabrese. Joy was Baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1975. It really was the beginning of New Life for her. She remembered saying in the months leading up to it, "God, if you're out there take this lousy life of mine and do something good with it." He stepped through the door and took His Place in her broken heart. Since that time, she has been privileged to be involved in various Church Ministries. Joy has been a widow for 12 years. Her husband suffered from a brain injury, diagnosed when their children were young. She helped in his business in addition to teaching. She is the Mother of two grown children, John and Jennifer, both married, and has two wonderful granddaughters, Hannah, 21 and Ava, 16 years old. Before teaching, Joy earned a Certification as a Medical Assistant and worked at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. She also worked as a preschool teacher for 32 years before retiring and taught CCD for 30 years. She was chosen as a Catechist of the Year in her Parish of St. Teresa of Avila, Summit, NJ. Joy volunteered to help in RCIA and stayed as a facilitator for 12 years. She has given talks at three NJCCR state conferences and has been trained by the Archdiocese team in the Healing Ministry and has facilitated many Healing Masses and Life in the Spirit Seminars. Joy is now peacefully retired and enjoys going on pilgrimages and being involved in Bible Study, Prayer Group, and the Faith and Life Ministry at St. Teresa's. She hears the call of God to St. Francis, "Come, build my Church." Joy invites us to join her as she shares: "From Heartbreak to Glory." Come and bring a friend! Reservations are necessary.
