Comments/Details: St. Michael’s Church (800 Ocean Avenue, Long Branch, NJ 07740) is sponsoring a chartered school bus to take up to 53 individuals to the Mass for Life and the Rally for Life in Trenton, NJ on Saturday, June 24, 2023. ALL (parishioners and non-parishioners alike) are welcome to travel on this bus to these important events. Registration for a seat on the bus will be on a first come, first served basis. There will be no charge for the passengers who ride on this bus, however, we will gladly and gratefully accept a free will donation to help the parish cover the expenses of the bus and the bus driver’s gratuity. The June 24 Pro-Life events in Trenton are as follows: • First, the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in Trenton will be the location for a 9:30 a.m. Mass for Life on Saturday, June 24, 2023. • Second, shortly after the conclusion of that Mass the New Jersey Right to Life organization will conduct a Rally for Life beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the New Jersey Statehouse Annex. The Mass for Life will conclude in plenty of time for Mass-goers to walk to the Rally for Life at the Statehouse Annex, which is about four tenths of a mile from the Cathedral and about a 10-minute walk. This day will mark the first anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs vs Jackson decision that overruled the Roe vs Wade decision. The itinerary for the day is: • 8:00 a.m……….Bus departs promptly from St. Michael’s Church. • 9:30 a.m……….Mass for Life at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. • 10:30 a.m. (approx.)…..Walk from the Cathedral to the Statehouse Annex. • 11:00 a.m. to (approx.) 1:00 p.m…….Rally for Life at the Statehouse Annex. • 1:00 p.m…….Walk from the Statehouse Annex back to the Cathedral. • 1:30 p.m. (approx.)…….Bus departs from the Cathedral to return to St. Michael’s. • 2:30/3:00 (approx.)……Bus arrives at St. Michael’s Church. Rest rooms will be available at the Cathedral in the church hall in the basement. There will be no rest room on this chartered school bus. For those who desire to attend the Mass for Life but may be unable to walk to the Statehouse Annex and/or to remain standing during the Rally, you are welcome to remain in the pews of the Cathedral for private prayer while the Rally is taking place. Please feel free to bring your own “brown bag lunch” and snacks and bottled water etc. Do not bring signs and banners; they will be provided at the Rally.
